Swallow tanagers hawk insects from the treetops. I stood on a platform about 150 feet up and sketched in watercolor.Studies in the air: purple honeycreepers (see lower right corner of this painting) and some unidentified bird or other. This is the drawing room for the swallow tanager, honeycreeper, the green and gold tanager and the bromeliads, high up in the canopy. Great view and lots of birds.Colorful, highly patterned vegetation goes well with jewel-like birds.
