I think there’s a series in the making here- painted field studies, notes and all. This one’s complete, titled Notes on a Kookaburra. A satisfying study in emphasizing what’s important and leaving out what’s not, and a nice way of putting all those hundreds of field sketches clogging up my studio shelves to good use. This is a painted record of the moment in time when I put my binoculars on the bird and a pencil on the paper, and not a whole lot more than that. It is acrylic on 1/4″ board and measures 10×12. I’ll try another one soon, there’s plenty of raw material over here. Stay tuned.
Thanks for getting the reclining deer back. The kookaburra’s is well on its way to being my next favourite….:)
